ID’s for market vendors

ID’s for market vendors

All permanent market vendors selling in municipal markets around the country will now have an identification card following the donation of 8 new ID card machines and 13 laminating machines from the UN Women.

This is part of an on-going partnership between the Ministry of Local Government and the Markets for Change Project. Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says the market vendor ID cards will greatly assist vendors to easily access market facilities and services such as, the market car parks, washrooms, women’s accommodation, training rooms and other facilities.

She says having ID cards for the market vendors recognises and makes visible the professionalism of market vendors.

The Minister adds it will also assist with COVID-19 safety measures as COVID-19 vaccine cards can now be laminated.
