Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has stressed that all Police officers who use violence as a tool to suppress others will be held accountable.

While commissioning the newly-rebuilt Nakorotubu Community Police Post in Rakiraki today, Bainimarama says if an officer is impetuous, the bad conduct tears at the very fabric of the democratic society.

He has told the officers that when they put on their uniform, they become the people’s servant and he will never tolerate officers who think they are above the law or those who arrogantly take the law in their own hands. Bainimarama says when people see an officer, they should trust that they will be treated with decency.

The Prime Minister says that the duty of care officers owe every Fijian is precious regardless of who they are, where they live and their status in society.

More than 7000 people will benefit from the new Police Post which was destroyed during TC Winston.
