Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu is reminding members of the public to exercise their rights in accordance with the law, as he will not tolerate Police Officers being ridiculed or sworn at when they are simply carrying out their duties.

This is in relation to the video that was widely circulated on social media, where Police officers were trying to arrest a man in Taveuni however he is clearly seen resisting arrest.

To make matters worse, the video shows some other people trying to stop police officers from doing their job and the youths using vulgar words.

Some of the people are even seen pushing the Police officers and asking them remove their uniform.

Tudravu says the circumstances leading up to the arrest and the conduct of the arrest as per standard practices are being scrutinised.

He also urged youths to respect Police Officers in their efforts to enforce the laws of the land.
