Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team captain, Rusila Nagasau

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team captain, Rusila Nagasau says growing as a child, she always wanted to become a soldier however she changed her mind when she saw her cousin, Manasa Bari lift the Melrose Cup in 1997.

Nagasau who is originally from Vakativa, Cakaudrove says she initially did not have rugby as part of her dream.

The 34-year-old has told fijivillage that she also has been inspired by former Fiji 7s reps, Aisake Katonibau and Viliame Satala.

Nagasau says after moving from Tavua to Suva, she played rugby with boys during recess and lunch time at St Agnes Primary School.

She later played soccer in secondary school and forced her way into the Fiji Under 20 soccer team in 2006.

Nagasau who resumed playing rugby in 2007 says her dream is to win the women’s competition in the Hong Kong 7s.

The Fijian 7s team is in Pool C with England, USA and New Zealand for the Langford 7s which will be held next week.
