I-Taukei Welfare Fund to assist with lease buy-back, land development, business development and education support for i-Taukei - Vasu

Minister for i-Taukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu

Minister for i-Taukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu says the i-Taukei Land Trust Board has endorsed the establishment of the i-Taukei Welfare Fund to assist landowning units with lease buy-back, land development, business development and support the education of the i-Taukei.

Vasu says TLTB will reduce its poundage and divert it to the i-Taukei Welfare Fund. The Minister adds that TLTB has put together a governance framework for the i-Taukei Welfare Fund to make sure it is well looked after and secure.

He also highlighted that the cabinet has endorsed that the i-Taukei Land Commissions undertake the Redefinition Survey at the minimum cost of $500 per amount.

He says the objective of this is to assist landowners with the high survey cost charged by private surveyors. He says this has been a challenge for landowners for so many years because it takes time for the private surveyors to carry out some of their requests, and it is quite costly as well.
