Members of the Hurricanes squad have tested positive for COVID-19, with assistant coach Chris Gibbes confirming an undisclosed number of players have contracted the virus.

The Hurricanes are scheduled to host competition newcomers Moana Pasifika at Wellington this Saturday.

Gibbes says what he can confirm is that they have COVID in their environment and they are working hard to manage it.

He says the team has been well prepared for the virus to infiltrate the squad and they are confident they will be ready to take on the Moana Pasifika at Sky Stadium.

After the Hurricanes' 21-14 win over the Highlanders, captain Ardie Savea mentioned COVID-19 had disrupted the team's build-up to the game.

The Hurricanes will meet the Moana Pasifika at 3.35pm Saturday.

Looking at other matches, the Blues will face the Highlanders at 6.05pm Friday, the Rebels will meet the Brumbies at 8.45pm Friday, the Crusaders will play the Chiefs at 6.05pm Saturday, the Drua will meet the Reds at 8.45pm Saturday and the Waratahs will meet the Force at 3pm Sunday.
