Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the urban sprawl in the Central Division is expanding and there is enormous pressure on the water resources now because of the huge movement of people.

While speaking at the Tailevu District Advisory Councillors appreciation day, Sayed-Khaiyum says a lot of people who did not live in these areas are living there now.

He says this is putting a lot of pressure on infrastructure.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the Viria Water Project which will hopefully be completed by the end of next year will add an additional 40 million litres of water.

He says the completion of this project would mean that people would have access to water supply 24/7.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says that they have been looking at how to improve Government services to the members of the public which is an ongoing process.

He adds civil servants must serve people with integrity and professionalism and also be responsive.

The Attorney General says there are issues that needs to be resolved and they need to be solution driven as opposed to just identifying problems.

Sayed-Khaiyum says some politicians just love to highlight issues without giving alternatives or solutions.
