The Ministry of Housing and the Public Rental Board are currently in the process of designing a relocation policy to guide them in any future relocations.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa, when questioned by fijivillage News on the concerns raised by the residents of Mead Road Housing.

He says they have told the residents that the eviction notice given to them has been put on hold as they are currently looking at other ways to assist the residents.

Nalumisa says the Ministry and PRB are designing a relocation policy, and this will be the guide in any future relocation.

He adds that five flats have been vacated.

The Minister says, for now, Mead Road Housing has been considered structurally unsafe.

Nalumisa says they are treating this issue seriously because it deals with people’s lives.
