TC Kevin lies to the far west of Nadi

As Tropical Cyclone Kevin lies to the far west of Nadi and gradually moves in a Southeasterly direction, expect continuous heavy rain, flash flooding and strong winds in the Western and Northern division and maritime areas today going into the weekend.

TC Kevin is located 1,270 kilometres west of Nadi.

At this stage, our main concern is heavy rain, flooding and strong winds.

The cyclone is not expected to track directly over Fiji.

Expect heavy rain to intensify from later today going into the weekend.

A strong wind warning remains in place for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Northwestern Viti Levu, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Bua province, and is now in force for Northern and Northwestern Vanua Levu, Labasa till Udu Point.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Northern Ba and Ra, greater Nadi/Lautoka/Ba area, Sigatoka, interior of Ba and Nadroga Navosa, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
