A Heavy Rain Warning from severe thunderstorms is in force for the Southern parts of Viti Levu from Serua-Namosi through Navua, extending to Suva up to Korovou, interior Serua/Namosi, interior Naitasiri and Tailevu areas, Southern parts of Vanua Levu from Dama (Southern Bua) through Wailevu, extending to Savusavu up to Saqani including Natewa.

A Flash Flood Alert is now in force for small streams and low-lying flash-flood prone areas of Viti Levu from Korolevu, Navua, Lami, Suva, Nausori to Korovou and parts of Vanua Levu from Nabouwalu, through Wainunu up to Savusavu, Vaturova, Koroalau, Wailevu, Natewa and Dreketi

The Nadi Weather Office says a moist north to northeast wind flow prevails over the Fiji group.

They say thunderstorms are expected to develop over the interior of the main islands in the afternoon and move towards the South East.

The Weather Office says severe thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the next several hours, especially from Serua-Namosi through Navua, extending to Suva up to Korovou, interior Nadroga/Navosa and Serua/Namosi, interior Naitasiri and Tailevu areas, Southern Parts of Vanua Levu from Dama (Southern Bua) through Wailevu, extending to Savusavu up to Saqani including Natewa].

They are advising people to keep clear of flooded creeks and drains, and not to walk or drive through flood water, stay vigilant and monitor conditions.

The Weather Office says thunderstorm activity and the associated heavy rainfall is expected to last until late afternoon or evening.
