HK 7s: France outplays Fijiana 24-14

The French team outplayed the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side 24-14 in their second pool game at the HSBC Hong Kong 7s.

France dominated most of the game controlling the pace with winger Hawia Tounkara getting a double.

Rose Marie Fiafialotu scored for France in the corner to lead 12-0

Tounkara’s second try extended France's lead to 17-0 at half-time.

Fijiana veteran Sesenieli Donu finally got one back for Fiji at the beginning of the second half to make it 17-7.

Vika Nakacia got another one for Fiji to make it 17-14.

France rallied and got another two tries in after the other to deny the Fijiana the win making it 24-14.

They play Great Britain at 3.25pm tomorrow in their last pool match.

In other matches, Canada beat Japan 24-17, Australia thrashed Spain 54-12, France defeated Great Britain 22-12, Japan beat Spain 24-19, Australia overcame Canada 26-15, Great Britain beat Ireland 28-17.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.01pm tomorrow, the semi finals will start at 6.14pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.10pm Sunday.

HK 7s : Fijiana 7s beat Ireland 24-17

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side have won their first pool game in the HSBC Hong Kong 7s after dispatching Ireland 24-17.

The Fijiana scored through Adita Milinia and Adi Mereani to lead 12-0.

Ireland struck back to get it to 12-5.

Lavena Cavuru and veteran Verenaisi Ditavutu put the final nail in the coffin to seal the win in the last second.

The Fijiana will take on France at 7.35 tonight before playing Great Britain at 3.25pm tomorrow in their last pool match.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.01pm tomorrow, the semi finals will start at 6.14pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.10pm Sunday.
