In a landmark moment for healthcare in Fiji, PSH Foundation has completed its valve replacement surgery, offering a new lease on life to a patient endorsed by the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) for a heavily subsidized medical grant through the PSH Foundation.

The recipient of valve replacement surgery, Ilaitia Tuitatava, a 50-year-old man from Natokowaqa, Lautoka, was endorsed by the GCC for the life-saving treatment.

This milestone follows the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the GCC and PSH Foundation on Monday, 30th June. During the ceremony, Tuitatava was announced as the first patient to benefit from this partnership.

Just four days later, on Thursday, 4th July, Tuitatava underwent a valve replacement surgery at PSH Hospitals in Nadi, marking the beginning of a new chapter for accessible, high-quality cardiac care in Fiji.

This collaboration between the GCC and PSH Foundation aims to provide heavily subsidized medical treatment to Fijians in need, particularly those from vulnerable or under-resourced communities.

Tuitatava and his family have expressed heartfelt thanks to both organizations for their support and commitment to saving lives. The PSH Foundation has reaffirmed its vision to continue delivering medical care that transforms lives across the country.

‘’To the PSH Foundation, Vinaka vakalevu for your generosity. You may never fully see the impact you have made, but we will be a living proof,’’ said Miss Akesa, wife of Tuitatava.

Through the PSH Foundation, founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar aims to bridge the gap between advanced medical care and those who need it most. This program not only eases the financial burden for patients and families, but also ensures that no one is left behind due to cost barriers.

“This is just the beginning, our partnership with the GCC reflects our shared mission to uplift communities through accessible, high-quality healthcare. Ilaitia’s story is the first of many lives we hope to transform,’’ says Kumar.
