Govt will work with NGOs to improve health service delivery- Prof. Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad

The government will work with non-governmental organisations as part of their urgent effort to improve health service delivery in the country.

This was highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad during fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan when questioned on working with stakeholders as the Children’s Hospital does not have any echo machine to test for rheumatic heart disease which is quite concerning and the lift is not working as raised by International Women's Association Fiji President Judy Compain.

Professor Prasad says one of the things that they did as soon as they came into government was to dismantle the attitude of not working with the NGOs.

He says they brought the NGOs to the summit, they were talking to them, and brought them forward for the National Development Plan consultations as they want to work with them closely.

He says they appreciate people like Compain and other NGOs who are concerned and highlight such issues.

Professor Prasad says they will work with the NGOs to make sure that not only they provide funding to the NGOs but will seriously look at how they can do that through a scheme in the next budget.
