Govt provides food and essential item packs to families in evacuation centres

The Fijian government has been giving food and essential item packs to Fijians that are currently taking shelter in evacuation centres.

Officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Force and the Fiji Police Force, together with Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala delivered food and essential items to Fijians at the Lautoka Primary School, FNU Natabua and Natabua High School, which are currently being used as Evacuation Centres.

The Minister for Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu delivered food and essential items to Fijians in an evacuation centre in Wailotua, Tailevu.

Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete joined Commissioner West Mesake Ledua and his delegation in distributing food rations to villagers of Barotu in Ra.

As of yesterday, more than 4,000 people were taking shelter in evacuation centres around the country.
