Good news for Fijian football fans as the redevelopment of Govind Park in Ba is nearing completion.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka posted on his facebook page that 85 percent of the newly upgraded Govind Park is complete, with landscaping and beautification still in progress, and the final touches are on track to be completed before the new financial year.
Rabuka says since 2016, the people of Ba have been denied the opportunity to host major tournaments.
He says promises came and went but the field remained silent.
The Prime Minister further says that the $8 million second phase of works has completely transformed the facility, featuring a new international-sized pitch, comprehensive infrastructure upgrades, civil works, modern irrigation systems, reshaped embankments, state-of-the-art building services, ticket booths, fencing, footpaths, and fully integrated mechanical, electrical and fire safety systems.
Rabuka adds that Ba has waited long enough and now the home of soccer will rise again.
