Minister for Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu says the government will be looking into the needs of the people in evacuation centres and assessments are ongoing.

He says they always encourage people to bring their own food to the evacuation centres because it is a known fact that government will not be providing supplies immediately.

Seruiratu says once people are in the evacuation centres, particularly in the government designated centres, government will look into their needs and Divisional Commissioners and the teams are making assessments on what can be provided by the government.

He adds their stakeholders are also willing to help.

There are currently 1,837 people in 110 evacuation centres in the Western, Central and the Northern Divisions.
