National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad.

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad has reminded the current leaders of the country that Fiji’s history did not begin in 2006.

While speaking at the Party’s Annual General Meeting today, Prasad says all the things that are good about Fiji were here long before 2006.

He says some of our leaders want us to believe that the crisis will be over and things will be back to normal soon but adds the economic pain will continue.

Prasad says tourism will not instantly spring back to its past levels which means that government's tax revenue will be low and the high levels of debt will increase further.

The NFP Leader adds that the time for dictatorship and arrogance is over and now is the time for accountability, transparency, ethical conduct and good governance.

Prasad has also called on the government to revisit the 2020/2021 National Budget to ensure that provisions are made for those who have already fallen below the poverty line and those who could quickly fall below the poverty line.

He says in that budget it should remove the allocations such as the $7 million for the Prime Minister’s new office, remove Assistant Ministers and reduce the size of cabinet.
