Staff of the Golden Age Home in Samabula treated residents to a special day of entertainment and feast as part of Diwali celebrations.

Senior Welfare Officer at the Golden Age Home, Neelum Kumar says on Diwali, the residents will also be treated with a special meal and they will be having an excursion along the Suva-Nausori corridor to witness the Diwali lights in the evening.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says the family members are unfortunate that they are not there to receive the blessings of the elders who have been left at the Home.

Akbar has requested the community to spare some time for the elderly and says apart from medical assistance and food, they also need some company.

Akbar says the government and the ministry will continue to look after the senior citizens.
