After staying in lockdown for 17 days, a number of people in Lautoka were seen going back to work after the lockdown was lifted this morning.

A resident, Narayan Reddy says about 70% of the shops have opened and people are back in the Sugar City, most of them who are doing their shopping.

Reddy says in general, there is a genuine relief among the people that the lockdown has been lifted and they can go back to work.

He says most of the people are just doing selected shopping such as groceries and not buying anything unnecessarily.

Reddy says that some people were also seen preparing for a potential cyclone where some people were buying items such as roofing nails and batteries.
