More than 1,470 people from approximately 378 families are currently taking shelter in 46 active evacuation centres across all four divisions after the heavy rain and strong winds experienced overnight.

The National Disaster Risk Management Office says 30 evacuation centres are operating in the Western Division, 7 in the Eastern Division, 6 in the Central Division, and 3 in the Northern Division.

The NDRMO says the number of people taking shelter in evacuation centres is expected to decrease as weather conditions evolve and more communities take precautionary measures to ensure their safety.

The NDRMO is working in coordination with relevant agencies to ensure timely support and assistance are provided to all affected communities.
