The Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva is expected to undergo renovation works which is part of the re-branding of GPH to Intercontinental standard.

FNPF CEO, Jaoji Koroi says GPH is a strategic and long term asset for members and is already under management by Intercontinental Group of Hotels.

Koroi says they have engaged a quantity surveyor to validate the scope and provide a cost estimate for this re-branding, but they have agreed on a limit on how much they will be spending.

He adds based on the agreement signed with Intercontinental, they have two years to undertake this renovation and they always have the option of deferring the upgrade.

However, Koroi says the upgrade has been factored in this year’s planning and budgeting process by FNPF.

He says in terms of staffing the same approach taken with their other hotel properties will be applied adding most of the GPH hotel staff are already on reduced hours due to the pandemic and its impact on tourism.
