The Great Council of Chiefs will discuss the review of more than five i-Taukei Acts today during their meeting on Bau Island.

GCC Chair and Minister for i-Taukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu confirmed this to media during his day-one briefing at Ulunivuaka last night.

He also says their meeting on day one discussed a lot of issues such as parents prioritising the education of their children.

Vasu says we need to take priority of the education of our children and make sure the Fijian population and the i-Taukei have the knowledge to take this country forward.

He also highlighted that other communities were ready to work with the GCC in the business side.

However, the Minister says the top priority is poverty and it needs to be addressed quickly.

Vasu says they also discussed the conservation of i-Taukei culture.

The meeting yesterday also endorsed the setting up of special fund for i-Taukei development and the reinstatement of the old lease distribution policy.

The GCC meeting will start at 8 this morning.
