Liuliu ni yavusa to be assisted with $200 monthly allowance

The Great Council of Chiefs has endorsed the strategic review of the iTaukei Land Trust Board, iTaukei Land and Administration and iTaukei Fisheries Commission comprising iTaukei Affairs Board, Provincial Councils, Tikina Councils and Village Councils.

GCC Chair and Minister for iTaukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu says the GCC concluded its meeting today with landmark decisions for the iTaukei.

He says the GCC also endorsed the outcome of the iTaukei Resource Owners Forum that was held on March 30th and 31st.

Vasu says this reaffirms the President's address on the economic advancement of iTaukei, and alleviating the poverty level of the iTaukei.

He adds the meeting also endorsed that economic empowerment be a priority for the GCC and other iTaukei institutions.

The Minster says furthermore, the GCC also endorsed an economic empowerment framework for the iTaukei to be implemented by the iTaukei Institutions.

He says the GCC endorsed that confirmed liuliu ni yavusa be assisted in looking after their responsibilities through a monthly allowance of $200.

The GCC Chair says they also endorsed the nominees to the Board of Governors for Ratu Sukuna Memorial School.
