Fijians can now access free medical services on board the Chinese Navy Hospital Ship ‑Ark Peace that is docked at the Suva Wharf from tomorrow until the 9th of this month.

Ark Peace Commander, Guan Bailin says that this is their second visit to Fiji and they hope for a good turn out.

Commander Bailin says that on board they have different equipment for medical examinations adding that they have had 100% success rate in operations and in all of their surgeries conducted there has being no complication.

Commander Bailin says they have about 120 doctors on board and are aiming to make approximately 600 consultations per day.

When questioned by Fijivillage on what type of surgeries or procedures will be conducted onboard, he says that they are able to conduct any type of surgery but the problem is after the operation they will have to think about the postoperative care.

Commander Bailin says for that reason, they will only provide simple operations such eye and ear surgery.

People can go in for consultations from 9am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 4.30pm at the Suva Wharf.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Qian Bo  says the visit is a symbol of good relations between China and Fiji.

He had also stated that their medical teams from the ship will also be deployed to the Raiwaqa, Makoi and Lami Health centres, and will be conducting surgeries on 30 patients that will be referred to them by the CWM Hospital.
