Staff members of the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management Office got together to celebrate the success of recent achievements of four Divisional Commissioners and Director NDMO, Vasiti Soko.

The four Divisional Commissioners, Mesake Ledua, Vitale Varo, Uraia Rainima and Josefa Navuku have been recognized for their loyal and selfless service to the country.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu says the milestone achieved by the Divisional Commissioners is a reflection of their guidance throughout disaster operations and COVID-19 response that has allowed our people to make a positive recovery.

The event also coincided with the celebration of the recent achievement of Vasiti Soko who was awarded the Excellence Award at the Women's International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction Leadership Awards.

Women's International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction is a professional network to support women working in disaster risk reduction.

Seruiratu says Soko’s achievement has proven to all Fijians, especially women and girls that “glass ceilings can indeed be broken."
