Forwood's testimony was open to other parties but not to the public and media - Mason

Forwood's testimony was open to other parties but not to the public and media - Mason

Alexandra Forwood and Senior legal counsel Janet Mason

Senior legal counsel, Janet Mason has clarified to fijivillage News that she meant that complainant Alexandra Forwood and Solicitor General Ropate Green’s testimonies before the Commission of Inquiry into Barbara Malimali’s appointment as Commissioner of FICAC would be open to other parties and not open to the media and the public.

When asked about her comments during an interview last Friday that the session would be open due to strong interest in Forwood's testimony, Mason requested to review the video, stating she can't imagine saying that.

Addressing the comments made earlier, Mason apologised for the confusion and clarified that she must have misspoken.

The senior legal counsel says she was talking about the Members of Parliament session being closed to all other parties, and then she went straight into talking about Forwood.

Mason says she did not say it was open to the media or the public but understands how someone could have interpreted it.

She stressed that the entire inquiry remains closed.
