Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry says he knows that for many people faced with ever-rising cost of living, the Diwali celebrations will be quite subdued.

Chaudhry says after all, the last two years have been extremely difficult for most families as they struggled to survive the onslaught of a deteriorating economy and the impact of the COVID pandemic.

He says the days ahead continue to be marked by uncertainties with general elections looming on the home front and fears of a global recession darkening the international horizon.

Chaudhry says these are signs that we are still not out of the woods, and that the worst may not be over yet.

The Labour Leader says it is a reminder that families must think of the future and plan ahead.

He says we must all act responsibly, spend wisely, and take heed of the warnings of difficult days ahead.

Chaudhry also says Diwali is bringing with it renewed hopes and aspirations for the year ahead.

He says may the blessings of Lord Ram continue to guide us all on this festive occasion.
