The Food Ration distribution and detailed damage assessment in the Western, Central and Eastern Division is underway since the first deployment team left on Monday.

The National Disaster Management Office says the Western team has started the food ration distribution in the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group while distribution continues in villages of Vatulele, Beqa and Yanuca Island that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Harold.

The Director of the National Disaster Management Office, Vasiti Soko said that the ration distribution is calculated based on per head in a household.

Soko says they calculate the rations based on the number of adults and children in a household and this is the information that they received from the Commissioners’ before the deployment.

She adds when their officers reach the Communities, they handover to the Community focal point who already have their community profile.

Soko says the Food Rations and Relief Supplies will then be distributed accordingly.
