As we head into the second last round of the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool matches this week, the Fiji Water Flying Fijians are in the top 10 list of teams that have a chance to lay their hands on the Web Ellis trophy this year.

According to OptaAnalysts, an online sports analyst website, after their last two pool matches against Wales and Australia, the Flying Fijians have a 97 per cent chance of qualifying for the quarter finals, a 40 per cent chance of making a semi finals appearance, 7 per cent chances of playing in the final and 2% chances of winning the competition.

The Flying Fijians narrowly lost 32-26 against Wales which they felt was a game they were robbed of a win before they came back to beat the Wallabies 22-15 in their second match.

The Wallabies were gunning for a win against Wales over the weekend to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the knockout stages but were unfortunate as the Welsh out-muscled them 40-6 over the weekend.

The Flying Fijians now will only need to win their two remaining matches against Georgia and Portugal whether it be a bonus point win or not to confirm their spot in the quarter finals.

Barring any upsets, the Flying Fijians is likely to meet either England or Argentina in the quarter finals if they finish second from their pool and either of the two teams finishes top of their pool. The Flying Fijians will take on Georgia at 3.45am Sunday in Bordeaux.

The fourth round of RWC pool matches will kick off tomorrow with Namibia taking on Uruguay at 3.45am in their pool A match.
