The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are ready to take on Tonga this weekend, following a strong foundation week that saw new talent integrated into the squad.
The team used their bye last week to focus on their own systems and raise training standards across the board.
Flying Fijians Assistant Coach Aaron Mauger says younger players, many of whom are in the national environment for the first time have responded well, meeting the intensity and expectations set by the coaches.
He says they are building for something bigger.
Mauger notes that Tonga is coming off a strong showing against Samoa, and the Fiji team is aware of the challenge ahead; however, confidence remains high.
He adds the final squad for the match will be named this afternoon, and the Assistant Coach remains confident that whoever runs out on Saturday will do the jersey and the nation proud.
Fiji plays Tonga 3pm Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in the second round of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup.
