Parts of Rakiraki Town is now flooded due to heavy rainfall experienced this afternoon.

Rakiraki Provincial Administrator and Government Ministries are working together to monitor the weather situation until midnight tonight as water levels continue to rise.

They also note that several roads are flooded and closed to vehicles, including Nadonumai Crossing, Namonamo Road, Tova Crossing, Mataso Tova Road, Gallau Road, and FSC Road.

Meanwhile, the Nadi Weather Office has issued a Flood Alert for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of all major rivers in Fiji.

A Flood Warning is also in place for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Ba, Nasivi in Tavua, Nakauvadra in Rakiraki, and Nadi Rivers.

The Weather Office states that an active trough of low pressure, with associated clouds and rain, continues to affect the country.

They add that another active trough of low pressure is expected to approach from the west tomorrow, bringing more rain, and gradually spreading to the rest of the country through Sunday.
