Communities living in flood prone and low lying areas should take all necessary precautions as a heavy rain warning remains in force for the Fiji group.
A flood warning remains in force for low lying areas in Semo village, Vatutu to Nadi Town, Mulomulo to Yavuna, Votualevu to Nadi Town.
There is also a flood warning for Vatukacevaceva to Rakiraki Town, Nasivi to Tavua Town, Navua Town and from Keyasi to Sigatoka River.
A flood alert also remains in force for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to major rivers for the rest of Fiji.
This includes the Rewa river, Sigatoka River and Navua River.
Category 1 Tropical Cyclone Josie is expected to pass near Kadavu later today.
The Cyclone does not have a direct threat on Fiji based on its projected track but people living in Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti should expect strong winds.
These expected strong winds will be indirect effects from the Cyclone and it will be able to bring down some temporary or loose shelters and also damage crops.
Please note that strong winds are likely to begin several hours before the centre passes nearby.
Tropical Cyclone Josie is located 120 kilometres west of Kadavu and it has damaging gale force winds with the average speed of up 75 kilometres per hour and momentary gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour.
The Weather Office says on this track, the Cyclone centre is expected to be located about 60 kilometres south-southeast of Kadavu at 6pm today.
A strong wind warning is in force for Fiji.
SITUATION REPORT
Central Division
Queens Road near Galoa Village is flooded.
Buiduna Road is also flooded and is not accessible to light vehicles.
In Navua, a resident Ravinesh Mali Raiwaqa Road is closed due to flooding and the Navua river is about to burst its banks.
Western Division
Nadi
Nadi Town is now flooded and closed after the Nadi River burst its banks earlier this morning. Villages close to Nadi town are also flooded including Narewa, Sikituru and Yavusania village.
In Sigatoka, Nabaka and Tavuto Bridges are closed.
Ba
Ba Town is also flooded after the river burst its banks this morning.
Ba Police say flood waters have started receding in Ba Town.
Kings Road from Lautoka to Ba is also closed as some roads in between are flooded and not accessible by vehicles.
Benai Bridge, Koronobu Road, the Yalalevu Stretch, Cementry Road, the road to Tavarua as well as Navuci Settlement are also flooded.
Flood waters in along settlements in Namosau in Ba have also started to recede.
Lautoka
Some roads in Lautoka are also closed due to flooding.
These roads include Vuda Back Road, Barara Road and Waimalika Road in Sabeto.
Lomolomo flats, Saru Back Road, Luvu flats, the Luvu seaside area, Vitogo and Paipai are also flooded.
Rakiraki
Rakiraki Town is also flooded.
We have been speaking to Businessman Azmat Ali who says the town was flooded again this morning for the third day in a row.
Qalau Road and Naqoro flats in Rakiraki are also closed due to flooding.
Electricity
The whole of Western Division is without power at the moment.
This has been confirmed by the Fiji Electricity Authority.
FEA says the unplanned power outtage may have been caused by fallen power lines. Some parts of the Central Division are also without power. This includes some parts of Nakasi, Koronivia and Colaisuva. FEA teams are still doing assessments and there is no time frame on when power will be restored.
