People are being advised to take precautionary measures as recent heavy rain has caused Navua River water levels to rise and flash flooding in some areas along Queens Road and in Nausori.

Police say movement will not be restricted but they are calling on members of the public to take precautionary measures.

The Fiji Roads Authority confirms the Queens Highway is still open, however they advise caution when travelling.

Vugalei Cocoa Road Crossing in Wainibuka, Vunaniu Crossing and Nabukelevu Road in Serua, Viwawa Road in Navua, Lomaivuna Loop Road Crossing in Naitasiri, Navulokani Road, Waisa Crossing, Vatuli Crossing and Vuninokonoko Back Road are closed due to flooding.

A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the Central and Eastern divisions, Southern Bua, and Cakaudrove province.

They say a trough of low pressure which lies slow-moving over the Fiji group is expected to drift over the rest of the group from tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office says associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the country until Thursday.

They add a shallow Tropical Disturbance 03F lies slow-moving to the East of Fiji and is expected to move Southeastwards away from the Fiji group.
