Fijians to expect wet weather until Saturday

Fijians should prepare for a very rainy Christmas as the Nadi Weather Office says the rainy conditions will continue until Saturday.

They say the weather is expected to ease in the weekend.

A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the Western and interior of Viti Levu including Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba through Tavua, Rakiraki, interior of Ra, Tailevu North, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Groups while a Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A Flash Flood Warning is now in force for all low-lying flood prone areas of Western and interior of Viti Levu, including Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba through Tavua, Rakiraki, interior Ra and Tailevu North while a Flash Flood Alert remains in force for all low-lying flood prone areas of Vanua Levu and is now in force for flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Ba, Nasivi (Tavua) and Nakauvadra (Rakiraki) Rivers.

A Strong Wind Warning is now in force for the coastal land areas of the Western and Northern parts of Viti Levu including Sigatoka to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba through Tavua to Rakiraki, the interior of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri provinces and Tailevu North, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Vatulele and Kadavu.

They say an active trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the group, which is associated with clouds and rain.
