Five people including a 7s player to appear in court for breaking quarantine rules

A prominent 7s player, a female massage therapist, a carpenter, an administration officer and an unemployed man will appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court later this afternoon for breaking rules in quarantine.

The Acting Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr James Fong says the five that allegedly broke rules within the quarantine area had moved from one room to another to drink grog and alcohol.

Dr. Fong says that no outsiders had gone into the quarantine area.

He has also confirmed that no medical personnel were involved in this.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the five people had breached quarantine guideline by allegedly drinking grog and alcohol in their hotel rooms.

They have completed their quarantine.

10 people were arrested in the Western Division for breach of COVID-19 restrictions.
