Five newly appointed Resident Magistrates, Talei Kean, Samanunu Vaniqi, Setavana Saumatua, Jone Salabuco Bale, and Navilesh Chand

Five newly appointed Resident Magistrates, Talei Kean, Samanunu Vaniqi, Setavana Saumatua, Jone Salabuco Bale, and Navilesh Chand were all ceremoniously sworn in by the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, at the State House yesterday.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection extended their best wishes to the three distinguished women lawyers who have recently been appointed to the position of Resident Magistrate.

The Ministry commended the Coalition Government for its commitment to recognizing and including local women in key decision-making roles within the Justice system.

They add this significant step towards gender equality and empowerment is a testament to the government's dedication towards promoting diversity and inclusivity in leadership positions. Present at the ceremony were the Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, Chief Registrar Tomasi Bainivalu, and Acting Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola.
