Naqarawai Village fire victim, Staff Nurse Vani Saqanavere, could not contain her emotions after the Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, took some supplies to her family.

The Minister took beddings, cooking utensils and clothes for the family, who lost all their belongings in a fire last Wednesday night.

Saqanavere has been serving at the Naqarawai Nursing Station in Namosi for the past two years.

Dr Waqainabete also presented a sevusevu to the villagers in thanking them for looking after Saqanavere and her family and also for providing them with a home soon after the tragic incident.

He assured the villagers they would rebuild the nurses quarters so that the provision of health care is not affected.

Meanwhile, Dr Waqainabete also joined the Veilomani Boys Home in Ba for their Fiji Day celebrations.

The 11 boys who are currently residing at the home were overjoyed after the Minister accepted their invitation.

Dr Waqainabete also asked the boys what career paths they wanted to take and encouraged them to work hard in achieving them.

The boys hosted Minister Waqainabete to a hearty breakfast.
