Former Wallabies halfback Issak Fines-Leleiwasa has joined the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, boosting the club’s halfback depth ahead of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
The 29-year-old, who played six Tests for Australia, including two at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, qualifies for Fiji through his father and has maternal links to Vatani, Kaba in Tailevu.
His three-year stand-down period to switch international allegiance ends in October 2026.
Fines-Leleiwasa says joining the Drua is a proud moment for him and his family.
He says this is a special chapter for them and he is proud of his roots and can not wait to be part of the Drua and one day the Flying Fijians.
The experienced No.9 has 56 Super Rugby caps and is known for his speed, accuracy and leadership around the ruck.
He made his Wallabies debut against France and played against Fiji at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson says the team is thrilled to welcome Fines-Leleiwasa and says he brings leadership and quality.
Jackson says Fines-Leleiwasa will work closely with Frank Lomani, Simione Kuruvoli, and Philip Baselala to strengthen one of the key positions in the team.
Fines-Leleiwasa is a recipient of several accolades, including the Nathan Sharpe Medal in 2019.
