Financial accounts of 2018 for other parties apart from NFP are available for inspection at the FEO – Saneem

Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem.

Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem says that the financial accounts of 2018 for all other political parties apart from the National Federation Party are available for inspection at the Fijian Elections Office.

The financial disclosures are available for FijiFirst, SODELPA, HOPE, Freedom Alliance, Fiji Labour Party and Unity Fiji.

Saneem says anyone who wishes to inspect the accounts will have to fill the necessary paperwork and pay the relevant fees.

He adds that other party accounts appear to be in order.

Last week, Saneem had said that irregularities have been identified in the Financial Disclosures of the NFP for the year 2018.

The FEO says these discrepancies also result in breach of the Political Parties Act.

Saneem says the NFP has also been asked to resubmit the source of party funding list for the year 2018 to the Registrar with exact details and particulars.

Saneem says the total of source of party funding in the audited financial statement is overstated by $103,032 if all the receipts are taken into account. He says if bank statements are considered, then the same is still overstated by $8,760.47.

The Registrar says it is found from the verification of the receipts that the NFP has failed or neglected to issue receipts for amounts which add up to $131,578.
