The Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua has created a remarkable comeback in the 2023 Super W competition and has also made history becoming the first expansion team to win the Super W title back to back in just their second year in the competition after beating the Queensland Reds 38-30 in the grand final last night.

Despite all the setbacks they faced this year on and off the field, the girls managed to overcome all those circumstances to create a fairytale story for them this season.

The team registered only two wins out of five games in this year's competition but managed to qualify for the semi finals after a fourth-place finish.

Their comeback started with an impressive 20-17 win over Waratahs in the semis to book them a grand final showdown against the Reds which they never failed to also deliver and produced the result they needed.

In an enthralling final the Reds started off the game strongly with a converted try to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Drua bounced back to score two converted tries before the Reds converted a penalty as the teams headed into halftime with the Drua holding a 14-10 lead.

The Reds started the second spell strongly with a converted try before the Drua came back with 4 converted tries and a penalty goal kick from Fullback Luisa Tisolo for a 21 points lead.

The Fijiana Drua held their ground in defence in the last 10 minutes of the game as the Reds found it hard to come back even after the Drua was reduced to 13 players when captain Bitila Tawake and Laisani Moceisawana were both carded.

The Reds managed to score a try in the last minute of play but it was a little too late as the final whistle was blown for the Drua to lift the title again for the second year in a row.
