Fijiana 7s loses third pool match after 38-7 loss to NZ

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side fell to their third defeat of the Los Angeles 7s after losing to New Zealand 38-7 in their final pool match this afternoon.

NZ scored a total of 6 tries and four conversions to Fiji’s 1 converted try.

The Black Ferns started well with an unconverted try to Mikayla Blyde in the 2nd minute for an early 5-0 lead before Fiji’s Adi Vani Buleki replied with a converted try straight from the restart to give Fiji a 7-5 lead.

NZ scored two more converted tries through Jorja Miller and Mahina Paul to take a 19-7 lead heading into halftime.

The Fijiana had no answer at all in the second spell after NZ scored three more tries to Shiray Kaka, Risi Pouri-Lane and Blyde with two conversions for the win.

Discipline problem proved too costly for the Fijiana as the referee flashed two yellow cards to Talei Wilson and Ilisapeci Delaiwau in the dying stages of the game.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s will take on Spain in the third Men’s quarter final at 4.10pm this afternoon.
