The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s had a slow start to their Los Angeles 7s campaign after falling short 5-12 to Brazil in their first pool match this afternoon.

Fiji had themselves to blame after Brazil took advantage of the gaps in their defence and scored two tries with one conversion.

It took Brazil 6 minutes to score the first try through Bianca Silva.

The game went into halftime with Brazil leading 7-0.

The second half was more like the first half as it took Brazil 6 minutes as well to score their second try with the conversion unsuccessful to extend their lead to 12-0.

Fiji scored a consolation try to Mereadani Qoro at the stroke of full-time with the conversion missing.

Fijiana will now turn their focus to tomorrow for their remaining pool matches.

They will play South Africa at 8.26am tomorrow before taking on New Zealand at 1.24pm in their last pool game.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 6.14am Monday, the semi finals will begin at 9.24am Monday and the final will be at 1.43pm Monday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s will take on Great Britain at 2.54pm today in their first pool match.
