The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team sailed through their second pool encounter in the Cape Town 7s beating Brazil 31-10 in a dominant performance.

Brazil scored first through Luiza Campos in the 2nd minute, however, veteran Raijeli Daveua hit back for Fiji to level the scores at 5 all.

Ana Maria Naimasi scored her third try of the tournament in the 5th minute extending the Fijiana’s lead 12-5 as they went into half time.

The Fijiana 7s finally found their rhythm in the second half with Lavena Cavuru and Alowesi Nakoci adding their names to the points tally.

Marcelle Souza of Brazil slipped through the Fijiana defense to score in the 14th minute, however it was not enough to mount a come back as Reapi Uluinasau powered through the Brazilian defense in the dying seconds of the match to seal the win.

The Fijiana 7s will play their final pool match against New Zealand at 11:03 tonight.

They also won their first match against Great Britain 19-10.

In earlier matches, France beat Japan 26-12 and USA beat Canada 24-7.

The women’s cup quarterfinals will kick off at 3:44am tomorrow, the cup semifinals begin at 9:24pm tomorrow and the cup final will be played at 5:26am Monday.
