An information session for the aged-care sector in Australia for more than 60 employers revealed that Fijian workers are in demand in the industry.

This was highlighted by the Pacific Labour Facility Skills Development Manager Brett Thomson during a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Employment Osea Cawaru.

Thomson says the number of employers or services that have contacted them since the visit by the Australian Government delegation to Fiji that was led by the Prime Minister has been astronomical.

He says these employers are keen to get hold of Fijian workers and the workshop has generated a lot of interest.

Thomson adds the first Australia Pacific Training Coalition aged-care pilot group is expected to complete their training this week and for mobilisation in the coming days.

He says Fiji is at the forefront of aged-care training at the moment.
