Fijian Drua names strong squad for Mataso 7s to be coached by Masi and Ravutaumada

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team has named a strong squad for the upcoming Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s, which kicks off this Friday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Excitingly, the Drua 7s side will be coached by 2024 Olympic Silver Medallists and Fijian Drua players Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada.

The Fijian Drua 7s will features a number of stars, including captain Tuidraki Samusamuvodre, Joseva Tamani, Kemu Valetini, Epeli Momo and Ilaisa Droasese.

General Manager of Rugby, Baden Stephenson says it is great for the Drua to be able to participate in the Mataso 7s and they thank the organisers for accommodating them.

Stephenson says it will be a timely experience for the players to get some match intensity and putting their skills against a field of talented local teams.

He adds it is also an unique opportunity for Masi and Ravutaumada to try their hand at coaching as part of their personal growth and development while they continue their rehabilitation from injury.

He says personal development is a big area of focus at the Drua, and he knows Masi and Ravutaumada are very excited to share their 7s knowledge with their teammates.

The Fijian Drua Squad include Tuidraki Samusamuvodre (c), Kemu Valetini, Joseva Tamani, Philip Baselala, Isikeli Rabitu, Epeli Momo, Junior Ratuva, Aisea Nawai, Isikeli Basiyalo, Isoa Tuwai, Jack Volavola, Simeli Tuiteci, Breyton Legge, Maika Tuitubou and Ilaisa Droasese.
