Fijian Drua and National 7s teams to feature in Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua 7s team and two National 7s side will feature in the upcoming Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s that will be held next weekend at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

While launching the  Fiji Bitter  Mataso 7s, Tournament Director and Organiser, James Vunituraga says this year’s tournament will support the second phase of constructing a new bridge.

Vunituraga says the bridge is aimed to enhance community access to essential services, schools, and markets, which will ultimately improve the quality of life for villagers.

Paradise Beverages General Manager Mike Spencer expressed pride in supporting the Mataso 7s, emphasizing that their involvement goes beyond celebrating rugby to making a positive impact in surrounding communities.

Spencer adds that fans can look forward to high-energy games that will showcase the incredible skill and sportsmanship that rugby is known for.

The tournament will feature 32 men’s teams competing for a $6,000 prize money, 8 women’s teams vying for a $1,000 prize and 16 U20 teams competing for $1,500.

The Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s will be held on Friday and Saturday next week.
