A lot of people do not seem to understand what has transpired since 2000 – FFP Leader

FijiFirst Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama

FijiFirst Party Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama says the FijiFirst Government has a plan in running a Government which was put to him in 2006 and 2007 by the Military Government and everything that they do are policies that they have been carrying on with the FijiFirst Government.

He says a lot of people do not seem to understand what has transpired since 2000 where we came through a very difficult time and the military was the only institution that removed fear and uncertainty from our midst.

While speaking during a rally in Davuilevu last night, Bainimarama says from those dark days in 2000, FijiFirst was born because the military decided then that we should get together and tell the people of Fiji that this is the way we should go.

He says the first thing they did through the 2013 Constitution is to call everyone ‘Fijian’ because the aim was to get rid of racial discrimination.

While speaking in the i-Taukei language, Bainimarama says most people hated the military takeover in 2006 because they thought they took over a iTaukei Government but it was false as they only took out a racist Government.

He says the military was advising the Government to move away from this type of leadership.

Bainimarama says they were in Muaniweni a few days ago where a man told them that a fork was placed on his neck, dalo and cassava were uprooted, cattle were slaughtered women were raped and that is what 2000 brought to us.

He says all that happened because of racial discrimination but behind that there were a lot of corrupt people who used discrimination to gain power.

Bainimarama told the people that all of them have received benefits from the FijiFirst government because they removed racial discrimination.
