It’s a proud moment for Fiji as the national Baseball5 team has officially qualified to represent Oceania at the 2nd WBSC Baseball5 Youth World Cup, set to take place from 24th to 27th September 2025 in Nayarit, Mexico.

The Fiji Baseball Association says the World Baseball Softball Confederation confirmed Fiji’s qualification after no other Oceania country expressed interest in competing.

They say Fiji is currently the only country in the region with an active Baseball5 program.

FIBSA Secretary General Inoke Niubalavu says this will be Fiji’s first international appearance in the urban street version of baseball and softball.

The sport is fast-paced, mixed-gender, and requires minimal equipment.

The team will include four male and four female players aged 14–18, along with a male manager and female coach.

Preparations will include selecting players from past clinics and open trials.

Niubalavu says this is a major milestone for Fiji Baseball and thanked the Fiji Government, FASANOC, JICA and other stakeholders for their continued support.
