The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s have kicked off their Cape Town 7s campaign hammering France 33-0 in their first pool encounter this morning.

The match started off with sloppy handling from Fiji, however they managed to regain their focus which saw forward Joseva Talacolo score the first try.

Pilipo Bukayaro capitalized on an error by France losing the ball forward, and scored Fiji’s second try, followed by captain Waisea Nacuqu who scored at the stroke of half time. Fiji led 21-0.

In the second half, a beautiful offload from Manu Maisamoa saw Talacolo busting through the French wall and scoring his second try.

France tried hard to slip through the Fijian defense however the Fijians managed to keep them at bay, long enough for Iowane Raturaciri to score under the posts and seal the win for Fiji in the final seconds of play.

Fiji will play South Africa at 9:19 tonight followed by Canada at 2:38am tomorrow .

In earlier matches, Argentina beat Kenya 19-5, Spain stunned New Zealand 14-10, Samoa beat Uruguay 21-10, Ireland beat Japan 19-5, Great Britain beat Australia 21-19 and USA thumped Uganda 38-5.
