Fiji needs to have a Narcotics strategy or a policy to address the issue of drugs in Fiji.

This was highlighted by Drug-Free World Fiji Founder Kalesi Volatabu during the International Women's Day breakfast at the Grand Pacific Hotel when questioned on the government's approach to addressing the issue of drugs in Fiji.

Volatabu says Fiji does not have a narcotics strategy or policy, which is necessary.

She says if we put this document through cabinet, it becomes a policy and a framework to dictate each ministry on how to deliver and address the issue of drugs across the board.

Volatabu says in 2019 a lot of ministries were working in silos to fight the issue of drugs however, we cannot do this by ourselves.

Volatabu says the government has to work together for a framework to be implemented, for which we will have to change the legislation and the policy.
